DNA methylation is a sensitive biomarker for skin ageing as well as early disease diagnosis. DNA methylation biomarkers can inform on biological ageing and show the methylation changes on specific genes with the interventions.

Mitra Bio has invented and patented (in 2022) a non-invasive way to extract methylation data using tape-stripping. Many skincare and pharmaceuticals have used our skin assays during in-vivo clinical trials to measure biological ageing and epigenetic changes during treatment directly on human skin. Mitra Bio sends the skin sampling kits. Mitra received the skin samples, extracts the DNA and performs targeted sequencing to extract epigenetics biomarkers.
